The success story of one of Europe’s oldest department stores
A large-scale online academy for the entire team
Professional training and the development of a culture of style
TSUM approached AcademyOcean to build an online academy for its 350+ employees and support the development of its fashion school.
"Before we met the TSUM team and started working with them, we couldn't have imagined the scale of the organization. Once you see some of their processes from the inside, you realize this isn't just a shopping center in the heart of Kyiv — it's a company with a fascinating history and a distinctive approach to business."
1. TSUM Kyiv recently celebrated its 80th anniversary. It was one of the first department stores in Eastern Europe.
2. The TSUM building is one of the few on Khreshchatyk that survived the war. It was constructed around the time Ukraine’s capital was moved from Kharkiv to Kyiv in 1934.
3. The modern TSUM reopened in 2016 following a major renovation led by British architects from Benoy. The project drew inspiration from Berlin’s KaDeWe, London’s Harrods, and Paris’s Galeries Lafayette.
4. The TSUM Kyiv brand was developed by the German company Landor, whose clients include British Airways, Nike, Apple, and BMW.
5. TSUM has also been implementing environmental initiatives for five years to reduce its environmental impact, including waste sorting and other sustainability practices.
TSUM is an unusual and forward-looking central department store with a rich past and a vibrant present. With AcademyOcean, it can now apply future-ready technology to employee training.
It is encouraging to see Ukrainian retail actively adopting learning management systems.
Every TSUM employee received access to a personalized online learning system.
Training for fashion-industry professionals was digitized on the AcademyOcean platform.
Modern LMS technology was introduced into a historic, large-scale brand organization.
